For many of us, the west conjures up images of childhood holidays on the craggy or sandy coastline, fishing for crabs in rockpools or building sandcastles. Or what about farmers' markets, local produce, and the best that England's farmers have to offer? It's got its share of big towns and cities, of course, from the south coast gems of Southampton, Bournemouth and Portsmouth to the former jewel in the Empire import and export trade that is Bristol, as well as the beautiful and atmospheric locations of Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Bath and Newquay.
