Based in Winsford, close to Barratt’s Weaver View development on Townfields Road, the foodbank has eight distribution centres across the county.  Barratt Sales Manager Kate Burrow went to visit the team at the warehouse to deliver the haul.

Items donated were all selected from the foodbank’s current priority list and included nappies, loo roll, fruit juice, coffee, pasta sauce and tinned food items.  Kate met with warehouse duty manager Andrew Mallin-Jones to find out more about the work carried out by the foodbank and how the groceries will be used.

Kate said, “It was a real pleasure to visit the foodbank and see how the groceries will be put to good use. As one of the nation’s leading homebuilders we are committed to leaving a lasting legacy in the areas in which we build and we take great pride in supporting organisations such as this.

“We also regularly contribute to local clubs and groups in need via our ‘Our Space Your Place’ scheme and actively look for ways to integrate our developments into the community.”

Andrew added, “We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us Barratt Homes Staff Foodbank Donation Centrein crisis.

“We are very grateful for the support given by businesses such as Barratt Homes and hope their example will encourage others to do the same.”

The Mid Cheshire Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
