Shared Ownership allows me to live in the area I want

According to recent figures about 200,000 UK households live in Shared Ownership homes and with developments like Bermuda House in Hampton Wick, this number will continue to grow.

34 year old Jo Tyler has just moved into her one bedroom Shared Ownership apartment at Richmond Housing Partnership’s Bermuda House in the riverside village of Hampton Wick. Jo had been living in rented accommodation in Twickenham area for many years and was keen to settle down and invest in her own home.

Jo Tyler at Bermuda House, bought using Shared Ownership SchemeJo comments, “I had been living in London since 2007 and was growing tired of being at the mercy of landlords and never feeling quite settled. I had considered Shared Ownership quite a few times and realised this was probably my only option to get on the housing ladder on my own. I was also keen to stay in the area as I work as a PA at Twickenham Stadium and didn’t want to leave my friends and family in the area.”

Jo started to follow Richmond Housing Partnership on social media and came across a link for Bermuda House and sales agent for the development, Red Loft Sales. She put a call in straight away and was put on the list for viewings.

“The whole process was really quick,” continues Jo. “I viewed the apartment and really liked it because of the high standard of finish, the location and the fact it was brand new. I put my offer in and it was accepted in April and moved in in the middle of September.

“Red Loft Sales were really professional throughout the whole process and always kept me up to date. The apartment is in an excellent location with fantastic transport links and very secure. Bushy Park is also close by which is ideal as I love to run.

“I know of a few people who have purchased through Shared Ownership and now having done it myself, I would highly recommend it. It feels very secure because you have the Government’s backing and it allows you to buy in a postcode that you couldn’t normally afford. I am delighted with my apartment.”

Bermuda House is located in the riverside village of Hampton Wick and has been tastefully refurbished and features five, one bedroom and four two bedroom apartments by Richmond Housing Partnership. It is located on the pretty high street, with quaint independent stores, high street brands and a selection of coffee shops. Bushy Park is a few minutes’ walk away with its mile-long Chestnut Avenue created by Sir Christopher Wren, its golden 17th century Diana fountain, restored 18th century cascade and water garden and herds of fallow and red deer.
