"We only viewed one property and knew it was perfect straight away"

For couple Maciej Pietrzak (35) and Debora Melo Domingos (36) owning their own property had always seemed like a distant dream but it suddenly became a reality when they purchased a two bedroom Shared Ownership apartment at Catalyst Homes’ latest development St Andrew’s Triangle in Uxbridge.

Maciej explains, “I had been working for the Government for two years as a Civil Servant and we had been living in the Hackney and Islington area for over 12 years renting a number of different properties. We both thought that owning our own home was a long way off because we didn’t have enough for a deposit but then one day my sister showed us details for some Shared Ownership apartments at a new development by Catalyst Homes.

“The launch day was conveniently on my day off, so we decided to go along and find out more. As my sister had already bought her own property in London three years ago using Help to Buy, she knew what we needed to do and how easy it is to buy a new build property.

“We arrived at St Andrew’s Triangle and immediately fell in love with the location. Having lived in zone 2 for so long, coming into Uxbridge made us feel like we were in a small town but still so close to London due to its great commuter links. Debora works near Trafalgar Square and so the commuting was a big factor for us, but it is really easy for her.

“The sales advisor showed us around the development and explained how Shared Ownership worked and we started to quickly realize that owning our own home could be an option. The properties were amazing, and we really liked the size of them and soon worked out we could actually look at buying a two-bedroom apartment to suit us longer term. St Andrew’s Triangle was the first and only development we looked at and it just ticked all the boxes, so we reserved straight away.”

Maciej and Debora have purchased a 35% share in a two-bedroom apartment. Maciej continues, “’We decided to start with a small share in the property to reduce the risk and debt we have but really like the idea of being able to purchase further shares until we eventually own 100%.

“Even with our mortgage repayments and the small rent we have to pay, our monthly outgoings are about £200 less each month than we were paying on a smaller one bedroom flat in zone 2, with no balcony. It also feels great to know that a proportion of the money we are paying out each month is going towards our future as we own some of our home.

“The team at Catalyst were really helpful throughout and recommended solicitors who kept us informed along the way and made the whole process as stress free as possible. I would highly Property exterior - St Andrew’s Triangle in Uxbridgerecommend Shared Ownership as a way of getting your first home.

“We are so happy to have moved to St Andrew’s Triangle and become part of a brand-new community, which is really friendly as everyone is in a similar situation to you and you aren’t trying to become part of an already established community.” Concludes Maciej.

St Andrew’s Triangle features 23 one and two bedroom Shared Ownership apartments, which have been designed with higher ceilings and larger windows to allow light to flood into the rooms.

The development, forms part of a larger new community, St Andrews Park, which is steeped in 170 years of history. Set in a stunning parkland setting, Hillingdon House was established on the site in 1717 and became a military hospital in World War II. After the War, RAF Uxbridge established its base there, until it was closed in 2010.

The overall development will eventually include up to 1,340 new homes, a new primary school, new public park, offices and hotel, theatre and museum, shops and a restaurant. It is situated on the doorstep of Uxbridge town centre with easy reach of Central London, Heathrow and the motorway network.

Each apartment at St Andrew’s Triangle features a contemporary handless, white gloss kitchen with soft close hinges on all units and Marengo kitchen work tops with integrated sink drainer surface and matching upstand. There is also an integrated fridge/freezer, slimline dishwasher, electric oven and ceramic hob and free standing washer/dryer included.

Just five one bedroom apartments remains at St Andrew’s Triangle. Prices start from £101,500 for a 35% share (full market value £290,000). The booking an appointment to view please  inform call 01895 770184 or visit www.catalyst.homes
