Cavanna Homes triumphs in national Housebuilder Awards shortlist

Westcountry homebuilder Cavanna Homes is celebrating a hat-trick after being shortlisted for three awards in the 2019 national Housebuilder Awards.

Two of the firm’s developments; Primrose Hill in Torquay and Yarners Mill in Dartington, have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Design for Three Storeys or Fewer’ category, alongside eight other national developments.

Cavanna Homes’ successful apprenticeship scheme has also been shortlisted for ‘Best Training or Recruitment Initiative’, alongside six others.

The Housebuilder Awards, in partnership with the National House Building Council (NHBC) and the Home Builders Federations (HBF), recognise innovation and excellence in the housebuilding industry.

Cavanna colleagues raise funds for precious lives with pedal power

A trio of cyclists from Cavanna Homes’ head office in Torquay will be riding 205 miles across three counties to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). 

The Ride for Precious Lives cycle challenge (12th – 14th July 2019) is an annual three-day charity endurance ride between three CHSW hospices, starting at Little Harbour Hospice in St Austell, to Little Bridge House hospice in Barnstaple, finishing at Charlton Farm hospice near Bristol.

Cavanna Homes’ team; Michael Newman (Head of Design), Ed Brown (Development Manager) and Ben Rowntree (Land Buyer) have set an ambitious fundraising target of £3,000.

When Robin Hanselaar visited Torbay on an international work placement two years ago from Gouda in the Netherlands, she wasn’t expecting to fall head over heels in love and buy her first home at Cavanna Homes’ Fusion development in Paignton. 

Support Worker Robin, 21, met her partner George Irvine, a 22-year-old lifeguard, whilst both working at PGL, an activity camp in Torquay.

The Mayor of Dawlish has officially opened Cavanna Homes’ latest show home at Barley Meadow in Dawlish with a ribbon-cutting. The development, located off Secmaton Lane, has already secured four reservations. 

Councillor Lisa Mayne was joined by Andy Addison, Head of Operations, Lauren Pybus, Sales Manager, and Anne Beadle, Sales Advisor, for the ceremony. 

Cllr Mayne said: “It’s remarkable to see how this space has changed since the turf cutting back in November into a community of new homes for Dawlish.

When parents-to-be Henry Burridge and fiancée Maddy White first saw their new home in the idyllic South Hams village of Stoke Gabriel, they knew it would be the perfect place to welcome their baby daughter into the world.

And less than three months after moving into their new house at Cavanna Homes’ Kings Orchard development, baby Olive was born, at home, on February 4th 2019.  

Quantity Surveyor Henry, 25, and 21-year-old Nursery Assistant Maddy, were the first couple to reserve a property at Kings Orchard. Maddy explained; “We heard about Cavanna Homes’ Kings Orchard development from my parents, who live just up the road. I grew up in Stoke Gabriel and was really keen to stay in the area, so Kings Orchard was a perfect spot for us.

South West homebuilder Cavanna Homes have opened their stunning new show home at Moorland Vale in Bodmin for prospective homebuyers to come and explore.
The ‘Bellever’ style show home is a three-bedroom townhouse with a spacious kitchen / dining room, separate lounge, and master bedroom arranged over three floors. 
Moorland Vale offers a selection of 50 new two to four-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced homes, with prices starting from £212,000.

A turf cutting ceremony has marked the start of building work at Cavanna Homes latest development, Barley Meadow in Dawlish, which will be connected to the town centre with a new cycle path being funded by the homebuilder. 

The town’s mayor, Councillor Lisa Mayne was joined on site by representatives of the award-winning, Torquay based Cavanna Homes - Build Manager Andy Sykes, Site Manager Ian Crighton-Brown and Head of Sales and Marketing, Beverley Bridge.  

Cllr Lisa Mayne said: “This is a very exciting time for Dawlish with a new development of houses coming to our town from Cavanna Homes whose recent Aspects development proved very popular with local families. 

Cavanna Homes supports young adults to leap into the construction sector

A group of young people in South Devon have been given a chance to sample a career in construction thanks to an initiative supported by Cavanna Homes. 

Eat That Frog is a community interest company who work across the South West, which is providing a two-week academy course for young adults to give them a helping hand into the construction sector. 

The first construction academy course was held at Parkfield in Paignton. Students are given a range of practical tasks with hands-on activities, a test, and a level one qualification in health and safety.

The final tiles being fitted to the rooftops of the last houses at Cavanna Homes’ flagship development in Plymouth, mark the end of a seven year project to transform the site of the former Plymouth Airport into a new community. 

A topping-out ceremony with Site Manager Dave Mitchell and Assistant Site Manager Guy Jary celebrated the final phase of building work on the development near Derriford.  

In 2011 the Torquay-based family owned homebuilder launched its biggest single development project in the company’s 95 year history with Cobham Field on the disused approach to the former runway, parallel to Tavistock Road.
