A ribbon cutting ceremony has marked the opening of Cavanna Homes’ most prestigious development to date, Cavanna @ Wolborough Hill in Newton Abbot.
The town’s Mayor, Councillor Richard Jenks was joined by Cavanna Homes’ Head of Sales Paul Furner and Sales Advisor Bernadette Wheeler for the opening of the luxurious new show home, set in the extensive grounds of the former Bishop Dunstan School.
The development will feature 26 executive new homes set alongside parkland and a private tennis court, with stunning views over Newton Abbot, the surrounding countryside and towards Dartmoor.
The design has been inspired by the Arts and Crafts era, reflecting the local architecture and incorporating a mix of crisp white and soft ivory rendering, natural grey slate and grey roof tiles, and a handcrafted brick wall created by a local stonemason forming an impressive gateway into the development.
The former Edwardian school building which closed in 2012, is being converted into Bacchante House which consists of four luxury town houses with three, four and five bedrooms.
Cllr Richard Jenks said: “It’s a pleasure to open this new development that fits so well with the character of the local area. The new homes are in a fantastic location with stunning views and I look forward to seeing the finished development in due course”.
The selection of modern, detached properties includes the five-bedroom Blenheim, Grosvenor, and Regent style homes, and the four-bedroom Hampton, Brompton, Alexandra, Buckingham, Cambridge, Kensington, and Kew style homes.
Cavanna Homes has contributed £150,000 towards upgrading facilities at the nearby Decoy Country Park, and £325,000 towards affordable housing in Newton Abbot.
